Here's who Katie Taylor thinks will win the Mayweather-Pacquiao superfight

The Olympic champion says she can’t wait for the bout.

KATIE TAYLOR HAS plenty on her mind, not least of which is the first ever European Games which take place in Baku from 12 to 28 June this year.

Not only will Taylor be competing in Azerbaijan as one of the 62 athletes set to represent Ireland, but she is also one of the international Athlete Ambassadors for the inaugural games.

However, the 2012 Olympic gold medallist also has one eye on the professional side of boxing and the Mayweather-Pacquiao superfight in particular.

And this morning she told The42 she expects the American to come out on top.

“I’ve always thought, if the fight happened, that Mayweather would out box Pacquiao. But then you wonder if Manny has the kind of style that’s going to be a problem for him, to make it an awkward fight.?

“It’s an interesting match-up and my heart says Pacquiao but my head says Mayweather. I’m a huge fan of both but I think Mayweather is going to be a bit too clever for him.”

While the 28-year old admited the pair area bit past their prime, she still insists it will be an incredible contest.

“They’re both still the best out there and so I think the outcome would have been the same had the fight been a few years ago. That said, I don’t think either of them are at their peak now — they’ve both kind of slowed up a bit — but I still think it’ll be a great fight and one that everyone should get excited about.

“I’m just delighted the fight has finally been made, I think it would have been a tragedy for the sport had it not happened. It’s going to be one of the biggest fights in history.”

And will Taylor make the bout? She will if she can blag free tickets.

“I’m just looking for a few free tickets to it, ringside maybe. Actually I might tweet Mayweather about it today!”

We’ll have further coverage of ’100 Days to Go’ milestone for the inaugural European Games taking place in Baku later today.
